INFO POST
NAME: Ryuuga Banjou
CANON: Kamen Rider Build
CANON POINT: End of episode 49
AGE: 23
BACKGROUND: Wiki link!
PERSONALITY: It's something of an understatement to say that Ryuuga is an angry boy. He's extremely fast to yell or swing a fist in stressful situations, and incredibly easy to provoke. As is often the case with guys like him, that trigger-finger temper also comes with an inability to think things through in the heat of the moment. In all honestly, it also comes with an inability to sit down and carefully consider things even during periods of calm. Ryuuga often runs on instinct and impulse, going into things with half a plan, and that's if he's even thought things through that far. The occasional tactless comment and lack of filter is just the cherry on top of the disaster sundae.
The absence of bookish intelligence doesn't help his case either. While his paltry sum of knowledge gives you sense that he probably did pretty poorly in school, and his critical thinking skills can be abysmal, he does have a natural canny that rears up from time to time. He'll notice things that seem off that even a scientific genius manages to miss, and has his moments of trickery (unfortunately almost always used against heroic characters, and never successfully implemented against villains). More importantly, he's pretty good at understanding people. A change in someone's demeanor doesn't need to be drastic for Ryuuga to realize that something is going on, and in low moments he's a surprisingly dependable shoulder to cry on.
That all said, a discussion about the nuances of parallel worlds is definitely above his pay grade. Complex theories and ideas just confuse and frustrate him, and he's more likely to wander off and play with office decorations than listen to an in-depth political discussion. There's an innocence to him too; he's easily fooled by emotional words that may or may not be true. While the gullibility might almost be sweet in mundane situations, his trusting nature is largely used against him to hurt either himself or others.
He's well aware of the fact that he's not a brainy boy too, but that doesn't mean he likes being reminded of it. Ryuuga can take a certain amount of ribbing from his friends, but not with much grace. It doesn't take much teasing at all to get him to yell and fuss. Though he's a tough brute who can take a beating, he can be a little sensitive and touchy about things like that.
Ryuuga is also relatively empathetic. When the show started he was at peak selfishness, having been falsely imprisoned and later experimented on. He was in no mood to help anyone other than himself. As time marched on, and he was able to see a literal hero in action, that selfish exterior was chipped away at until Ryuuga stepped up to the hero plate himself. It took a while for Ryuuga to fight for people other than the ones he immediately cares about, but he does eventually grow enough to extended his protection to just about anyone in need.
The people close to him are still very high on his priority list, however, and he will do just about anything to keep them safe. Anything, like a whole lot of self-sacrificial nonsense. Ryuuga puts his own life on the line on the regular just to keep the people around him safe and smiling, and while he's grown out of thinking that no one would be sad if he were to die, it doesn't mean he wouldn't lay down his life in a heartbeat in exchange for the life of his one of his friends. There's unconditional love, and then there's unconditional loyalty; on a loyalty scale from Brutus to dog, Ryuuga is straight up Fido.
However, that self-sacrificing nature isn't always entirely noble. For various reasons Ryuuga carries a lot of guilt on his shoulders, and that can lead to feelings of inadequacy and self-hatred at times. While being surrounded by people who care deeply about him has helped him to grow past a lot of those negative feelings, the guilt hasn't been entirely lifted from him. Ryuuga uses that guilt to motivate him to continue moving forward with heroic actions, not that he really needs extra motivation. Even before becoming a hero Ryuuga was pigheadedly stubborn and determined, and that determination has only been amplified now that he has a real direction for it.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Hand-to-hand combat: Primary form of fighting. Former professional fighter, current superhero.
Basic sword skills: Secondary form of fighting. Extremely basic skills with swords.
Kamen Rider armor: Armor that utilizes alien technology to both protect the wearer and increase their strength. Often comes with elemental bonuses when landing a hit, in Ryuuga's case it's lightning and fire.
More details on the wiki
INVENTORY: build driver plus the dragon and magma bottles. The combination of things he needs to utilize his powers.
